I promise this will be my last "creative begging and pleading" e-mail of the
week. The Planned Operations map for Sunday's ILQP still shows a lot of
holes. KJ9C is filling a big chunk of the gaps in the southeast (THANKS
MEL!!). The mobiles and rovers are stretched about a far as they can
stretch. There are some great portable operations planned. There surely
must be some fixed stations who will be active in some of the orphaned
counties. I have sent an e-mail to every one of last year's entrants and
thanks those who responded.
Please spend as much time in the chair as you can on Sunday afternoon. This
is our chance to "be DX" for 8 hours. Please spot the mobiles and rovers as
much as you can as they change counties (and listen to the ensuing mayhem).
If you have 2 meters on in the background, listen on 146.42 or 146.55 once
in awhile. On 40 meter SSB, don't forget that some DX stations can only
operate up to 7200 khz. If you have a pileup, listen for weak mobiles and
rovers. We will only call you a couple of times before moving on, and
you'll probably lose a multiplier. Those of you driving, be careful. It
sounds like the weather should be pretty favorable.
See you in the pileups!
73, Jim N9JF
