[ILQSO] LOG DEADLINES

Hi Jim,
The WI QSO Party changed the submission period to 2 weeks a couple of years
ago. It seemed to have made no difference to the participation numbers.
There were a couple of ramifications however:
1. As part of the log checking process, the database kicks out a report of
call signs of stations that are "mentioned" a lot but no log has been
submitted. We will often send a reminder to nudge those particular
stations to submit. With the shorter submittal period, that makes such a
nudge a bit more difficult to accomplish.
2. The shorter time frame really did result in quicker results being
published. Having said that, log analysis and scoring require more than
just letting a computer add up numbers. The human analysis is very
important. That can't be shortened. So taking the time to get it right is
the most important consideration. Despite that, we still manage to have a
hic-up or two.
