Well, I had a blast working portable from the ditch yesterday.  The weather
was great, though a bit windier than I thought it was forecast to be  I ran
QRP, which may have been against my better judgement.  A linked dipole for
80/40/20M, and a telescopic vertical on the truck for 20M.  A 100W solar
panel charging the (2) 38Ah LiFePo4 batteries kept the laptop, radio, and
some other accessories running easily the entire time.  Both batteries were
still full when the sun went down.  I even had another ham stop for a quick
chat while he was driving by in his 18 wheeler.  Only managed a bit over
half of the IL counties, but I "ran" most of the time, with little search
and pounce.  Thanks to all those that worked me and my little QRP signal!
