The Illinois QSO Party uses 160 through 10 meters (excluding WARC bands and
60 meters) and 6 an 2 meters.
If you use VHF, it must be on simplex, any mode, no repeater or satellites.
We do ask you refrain from calling on 146.520. 146.550 has been the
suggested frequency for 2 meter FM. On 6 meters we have suggested 50.125 and
up for SSB or just below 50.100 for CW. I do not believe anyone has
suggested a 6 meter FM frequency.
I mention this because there are many Technicians that will not operate HF
and if you can get them on, there are a lot of potential points to be had in
metropolitan areas from VHF QSO's. For those that have several operators in
a county, adding 6 and 2 meters can significantly increase your points
total. Say you work 100 multipliers, adding 10 VHF QSO's will add 1000
points to your total.
