[ILQSO] ILQSO Digest, Vol 128, Issue 20

Good Afternoon All!

First, I am exhausted and need a vacation. We had a pretty busy week at
W9GRS with ARRL School Club Round-up (which we pulled in over 100 Q's, 30
of which were schools) and then ILQP on Sunday. This of course doesn't
count the other things going on through out the week.

Anyway, had a great time operating even though we only were able to put in
about 5 hours of time at the radio Sunday. The dipole seemed to be holding
it's own and we were able to make several people happy by adding IROQ to
there log. In fact, I think we heard "that's a new one for me" by nearly
everyone except those who we worked on a 2nd band.

Conditions were terrible on 20m for us. We tried calling CQ two different
times and only managed to work a whopping 2 stations, even with spotting.
40m was better, but seemed to run long for us as we worked mostly out of
state folks. We had a nice run on 80m in later afternoon to help with our
county multi's. Rates didn't get very high and we hovered around 50-60/hr
with spurts of pile-ups everys often.

In terms of dupes...because we have students operating, we log everything.
We use N1MM+ primarily for contesting (really like it!) and use a SCR
Write-log during School Club round-up. Both are very user friendly for us.

For those that made contact with us...THANKS!! For those that still want
to put W9GRS into their logs...we try to get on air through out the school
year and plan on being on air for the ARRL SSB Sweeps and gun for a top ten
finish. We won't be defending our School CW Sweeps State Title this year
as I will be in Indianapolis presenting the GSA National Meeting that
weekend.

Have a Great Week and 73 from the Flatlands of Illinois!

-Troy W9KVR and W9GRS Crew
