Good Morning All!
Pretty busy Sunday for me, though not behind the mic. My daughter's 8th birthday party was Sunday, having been moved because of a new niece joining the family the week before, therefore limiting my operations. I was able to get on at the start of the contest and put better than 100 Q's in the log for IROQ.
I heard Val NV9L on 40m representing IROQ, so I zipped over to 20m and had a good run. A nice short skip as I worked a ton of MN/TN and had surprise call from ON4UN for the first time into my QTH. I was able to get on the last 15 minutes of the contest after Sophie's party was done.
BTW, our school station, W9GRS will be on air Tuesday-Thursday after school for the semi-annual School Club Round-Up. We'll mostly be on 10/15/20m, primarily on digital modes, but hope to do some 40m work on Thursday and perhaps Friday before our HS football game. We'll also try to get on air during my prep period before school and during my lunch period.
Have a Great Monday!
73's from the Flatlands of Illinois!

Subject: [ILQSO] ILQP recap (long)
Having just arrived back from southern Calhoun County, with my feet starting to regain feeling, I wanted to go over a few things to follow up this year's event.
First of all, a huge thanks to all of you who worked at recruiting activity in some of the hard-to-cover counties. We may not have quite gotten all 102 on the air, but we were awfully close! Special thanks to NG9R and NA9Q for keeping the activity map updated.
Thanks to all who got on the air, and especially to those who made the effort to go portable, rover or mobile. And a huge pat on the back to KJ9C and AD4EB (and anyone else I might be forgetting ) who came from out of state. We couldn't have done it without you!
Now for the fun stuff:
Please send your logs as e-mail attachments to n9jf at arrl.net. Cabrillo format is preferred. If you logged on paper and are willing to put your log into some sort of electronic format before sending it, that will be immensely appreciated! Please request a template from me before starting to transcribe your log. The template will guide you through putting the log into Excel and we can suck it into our log-checking software from there. Please do NOT send a PDF file; we simply have to hand-type those into Excel. If you have questions about the output of your logging program, please check the file to see that for each contact you have included date, time, band, mode, your call, your QTH, his call, his QTH. Don't worry about scoring; we'll do that. If your log output calculates a score, we will compare that with what we get once the log is processed.
When you send your log, you should get a reply within 24 hours letting you know it was received. We have no "robot" (okay, *I* am the robot...I manually reply to all the e-mails received). The fact that it was received doesn't mean initially that "all is OK", just that "hey, we got something from you and it looks like a log". We may need more information later. Please be sure you have included your proper entry class, including noting if you were a QRP entry, and make a note of the Illinois club to which you want your score credited. This includes local clubs only; Society of Midwest Contesters is a great organization, but SMC isn't eligible for the club award.
I think that covers it for the moment.
Again, thanks for coming to the party!
Best regards,
Jim N9JF
