I feel bad that no one is claiming the lost counties of northwest Illinois this year.  I'm in north-central Iowa this weekend, and depending on when I leave here, I might manage a brief operation around supper time from just inside Jo Daviess County, which is just across the river from my weekday home.  I just tried operating with my slap-together mobile setup in the Iowa QSO Party from four counties, and could only manage to make contacts on 20 meters with any regularity, and only managed two contacts on 40 meters (one phone, one Cw).  My forty meters setup just wasn't cutting it.  I should mention, however, that I operate QRP, and so it could be the low power in particular that is not making it today.  I will see what happens tomorrow.  No promises.
