Hi Mike,
Welcome to the group! We will look forward to hearing you on, both
from AK and from Fulton county next year.
I am sure many on here will be willing to share what we do and what
we have tried that didn't work as well. N9JF will most likely chime in and I
suspect several others will have opinions and ideas to consider from their
experiences with ILQSO and others. I have to believe you will have quite a
challenge in operating from AK and organizing the event will be quite an
undertaking. We are blessed with several stations that operate mobile or
portable every year, that helps us activate most, if not all 102 counties
her. I assume you will be using Alaska boroughs, which will make it easier
to work them all in terms of numbers, but it still may be a challenge to get
them all activated.
You have many options for scoring, I suggest you start with
something simple to score and check, at least for the first year. Also, it
is nice to work a contest where the exchange or multipliers is something a
little different than usual. Again, I am sure others will have some really
good suggestions.

Subject: [ILQSO] QSO Party operation
It has been years since I have operated the Illinois QSO party, 1984-1985 in
fact. One year took secind place mobile and next year first place mobile. I
could lay in bed at night and still hear CW ringing in my ears!!! My
question is this: Where would I seek help in setting up and scoring a QSO
PARTY for Alaska? Can you help lay out ground rules, or help with scoring? I
am planning on operating the 2013 IL QSO party as portable from FULTON
County next year. Just have to build my antennas for use during the contest.
Will all be CW operation single operator. Looking forward to your help and
input. I would like to model AK QSO after your QSO party.
