This was fun.  20 qso's short of last year's effort, but 7 more multipliers
and spent nearly 2 hours less time doing it.  I improved on some areas and
others, I suck.

Things that sucked:  My slow typing.  Simply not doing this often enough to
have a good routine.  I can tell I am slowing with age.  I get tongue tied.
Didn't make any attempt at CW.  Had the bright idea of logging the first
contact on rovers and mobiles.  Then putting the rest of the info on a pad
to enter later.  I managed to get two qso's entered and N1MM started tossing
errors.  I had to hand enter the whole log.  And not being familiar with
that, I didn't enter the time for each qso, I had to extrapolate the times.
So they are close.  If that is a problem, let me know and I will key it all
a third time.

Things that worked: PowerSDR /IF Stage on the FT-2000D worked great!  I
could see the holes and easily found run frequencies.  The Network Sciences
3kHz Roofing filter in the Yaesu let me hear even when it seemed to get
crowded.  I tweaked the IF shift a couple times and had no problem.  Seeing
the IF shift on the Power SDR helps.

I started on 10m and ran for 40 min.  Then it slowed so I jumped down to
40m.  That was a good band for me.  I needed the receive antenna a few times
as the 1/4 wave vertical isn't made for a domestic contest.  Picked up a
couple guys on 2 meters.  Jumped to 20m and had a nice run.  But it petered
out after a time.  I worked some stations west of the Mississippi, but
directions to the east were better for me.  Worked a bunch of Europe.  Some
Russians in the mix.  Took a break to deal with the wifes car.  Came back
and tried calling on 6 meters on 50130.  Not a peep.  Worked a station on
10m and one on 15m.  Apparently it was too late for get anything started
there.  Took supper break.  Being insulin dependent means I have to take a
break and eat mostly right.  Came back to 40m and then jumped down to 80m
just a bit sooner than most I think.  Stayed on 80m to the end.  Made a lot
more contacts on 80m this year than last year.  When I was on 15m I had been
hoping to get a run of JA's.  When I got there I tuned the band real quick
and heard one in qso and he was really strong.  Never occurred to me till
later that it was Monday morning for them and nearly all would be at work.
I was disappointed that there wasn't a lot more California stations on.

All in all a good contest.
