We had 7 teams go Portable this year just to be on a 2/3/4 county line/corner. 

And it's in the true spirit of a Field Day station.
 
Geographically, it is possible to be in 3 counties simultaneously. 

Facing north, put your boot down; 

Your big toe is in Madison county, your little toe is in Clinton county, and your heel is in St. Clair county. 

Set up the ILQP station where your boot is, and bingo, 3 counties 3 QSO's. 

The question would be which Sheriff to call should that type of assistance be needed...

The people that run the Wi QSO party know that it is impossible to be in 3 
or 4 counties at once. One contact- One county. So no problem logging QSOs.
