My thoughts as a water-pistol hf contester,

I'd prefer receiving  only the information needed for a particular contest's rules.

Although the QP's are designed to include casual ops,

( a great thing in my opinion)

they are still contests as they i nclude: scores, awards, bragging rights, whatever...

I have no room in a contesting program qso window f or info I don't need, and

it takes additional time just to  even exchange it.

I have exchanged this additional  information many times with new hams and

new contresters, or folks th at just don't understand. (didn't read the rules)

Many contests have different exchange requirements: serial numbers, names, precedents,

state, county, rs/t, grid squares, country, power level, on and on...

That's what gives a particular contest its personality.

I log what I receive.. if an RST is sent 569, I edit the field.  I don't like doing it, but I do.

Some will hear 5NN and know it's time to copy. Though meaningless as far as a "valid" rs/t,

it is still required to be sent (and logged) in the rules.

Some guys don't like sending just a grid square, you'll hear 5N/N being sent too.

Some force of habit (HF ops), some maybe not familiar with the rules.

The only change I'd like to see in the Qso parties is on the dates that have multi parties going,

maybe the clubs on those particular periods consider making the exchanges the same so the

participants on the air "just to hand out q's" can log in one contest window instead of multiples.

As Far as ILQP, I think WIARC does an outstanding job, and puts on an enjoyable contest.

(sometimes hard to participate in when traveling for CQWW SSB somewhere outside of IL, but that's

a personal "problem").

I wouldn't change a thing!
