Hank,
Please take this response in the manner in which it is intended, as a
question for discussion and NOT as a personal attack in any way.
How you figure that "4 county line portables only compete with other 4
county line portables, etc."?
The 2007 ILQP rules only provide for one Portable category which is defined
as, "Not a permanent station location; antennas erected for the purpose of
the contest; may be on a county line or corner." Further, the rules state
that a plaque will be awarded to the highest-scoring IL Portable, and that
certificates will be awarded to the top 5 IL Portables.
In the 2007 ILQP, the only stations that will be receiving certificates were
3- or 4-couty corner operations. The highest-scoring 1- or 2-county
operation placed 9th. If by competing you mean attempting to receive
recognition for your accomplishments in the form of a plaque or a
certificate, then you MUST operate from a 3- or 4-county corner. In
reality, stations operating from a single county or from a 2-county line can
NEVER hope to earn a certificate, let alone the plaque.
