Thanks for your remarks and they are well noted. I wasn't bashing all out of
state participants, only some who think the county line portable operations
should be eliminated. The effort we put in to our operation is tremendous
year after year. It is a good way to help everybody get the counties they
need for multipliers conviently. We have a nice location to operate from and
look forward to each and every ILQP from there. The mini field day we do for
eight hours from that location is excellent training in portable operation
ie.setup, operating and teardown(in the dark). As mobile stations are well
aware, the cost can be substantial. KN9T and myself drive about 170 miles
round trip to give out four multipliers for everyone. Is our purpose not
worth the effort? I live in a rare county(Putnam) but chose to do the
portable ops each year. The response we get from other stations about our
four county operation is positive. The WIARC has a tough job running the QSO
party and I am sure we will see lots of changes in the future. I really
enjoy the contest and like everything else, it must evolve for better or
worse. I have been just defending our portable operations and once again,
don't intend to offend anyone. It is good to hear everyones opinions and
comments which we all can learn from. I apologize to anyone whom I have
offended. As it has been mentioned before, these comments are my opinion
only. I must be like the mother bear defending my cub so will try to
restrain myself in the future. Look forward to working everyone in the ILQP.
