You would have had 2 in-state QRP operators in 2006 if I had
operated this year, but instead I needed to help a colleague
from work get moved out of her house - she had just been
divorced, and the house was sold as part of the settlement,
which she needed to get moved out of that day and needed all the
help she could get. But then again you don't need to know all
the details.

For several years I mounted a QRP Mobile op in the Illinois QSO
party. I will hopefully do it again next year.

I operate QRP all the time when I use my own equipment (not
counting times I'm operating for a club or with friends at their
place). I do it because I believe in QRP. And this is whether
I'm mobile, portable, or operating at home.

I don't need a plaque to entice me. Certificates are fine, and
even those I don't need really - they just go into a folder with
the others I've received for Sweepstakes, QRP contests, etc.

There are several of QRP operators who live in Illinois
(although I know there seem to be even more in Wisconsin and
other neighboring states) that I know of through QRP-L. Why
they choose to not operate in the Illinois QSO party I can't
begin to know. Most contests now have a QRP category, so it is
nothing new or unique.

Now if you made the Illinois QSO Party a QRP-only event - that
would be unique and fun for all - just kidding <grin>.
