Does anyone have operating tips for the newbies on ILQP?

Well, I have good luck going SSB on the top of the hour, then CW at the
bottom of the hour. unless the rates are so good, you can't leave. Also, I
switch bands like crazy, during peak SS years, when 10 is open, I start on 10 and
work a bunch of W6's. Never spent much time on 15, and 20 is beginning to
play well the past couple of years. Don't forget 2 meter FM, or 6. Also, if
you are starting to worry about getting the 5 DX mults, there is nothing in
the rules saying they have to call YOU, or have to be CQing ILQP. If you hear
DX, work him, give him your report ( County), and copy his report, since
there are no serial #'s, you just need a signal report from them.

Hit 40 early and often. hit 80 CW after dark for some fun, 75 SSB has never
been productive for me. Move guys thru all bands you can hear them on, and
make sure you get them on both modes. Doesn't do anything for your mult
total, but, will increase your Q count. 10cw/10ssb, 15cw/15ssb, ect. You can
take a local from 2-160, both modes, for 14 QSO's from one guy.

Most important, HAVE FUN!
