Just got back from scoping out a couple of family sites around the Galena area, and it looks like I will be operating from JoDaviess County for the 2006 ILQSO Party (instead of my Lake County QTH). Not at the highest point in Illinois, but on a farm close to it (~980 ft ASL):

Got some crude drawings and measurements... so now to work on the antenna details...

Greetings!

It's time to start firming up plans for October 22's big event. Several
operations have already been announced; now we need to start "filling in
the holes".....

Updates, as they are received, will be added to the activity map:

"Talk up" the party within your local club. Several clubs have done a
great job of making ILQP a club activity, and we need more of those.
Single operator activity from home stations is great. Better yet,
gather together a few less-experienced operators and do a multi-op,
either from a permanent location or from a county corner. If you have
mobile HF capability, consider touring a few counties, even if you don't
spend the whole eight hours doing it.

ILQP has generated a great deal of CW activity, but there have been some
strong SSB entries as well. We don't want to neglect either mode.
Mobile entries have a rough row to hoe on SSB, so it would be really
nice to have a large group of home stations active on SSB from all over
the state.

Several mobiles have indicated interest in coming in from out of state.
The sooner plans can be made public, the sooner we can tell these guys
what counties we need to have them cover.

We'll try to coordinate mobile plans here on the reflector, or you may
e-mail me directly at jfunk at arrl.net or jfunk at fossnorthamerica.com.
