Jim:

I plead guilty. When I think of "client server" I'm thinking of a piece
of software like netscape mailer, outlook, outlook express, eudora, etc.
- which one installs on his or her computer where he or she formulates a
message and sends and receives messages. That's where one lists the
server, the port used to get into the server (usually as a default, but
I suspect it could be changed, though I've never had to do this on any
of my servers), the name you use on your account, the password for that
account (whether to "save" it on your computer), the e-mail address
which you wish to put on the message itself (not necessarily the name on
the server account), et. cetera.

If this nomenclature is incorrect, perhaps you can tell me what this
piece of software should be called.

I have a real e-mail address "aname"@utmi.net, another
"adifferentname"@one.net, and a "pseudo" e-Mail address n8xx at arrl.net
which I use as the address on many outbound messages which are related
to ham radio. This is the point which I was attempting to describe.
