[ILQSO] Test Message

This is a test message. My "real" ISP is utmi.net, which I have NEVER
used as an e-mail address, and the e-mail address I "usually use" for
e-mail other than ham radio is one.net, which doesn't exist anymore
except on paper ever since nuvox.net bought it out. I routinely use
n8xx at arrl.org for outbound ham radio messages, and about 99.44% of the
time they go through. On the 802.11b reflector, run by tamu.edu, the
moderator has a filter which looks at the ip address of the originating
ISP and rejects it if it doesn't match the know IP address of arrl.org.

However, utmi.net, nuvox.net, one.net, and most other isp's will allow
the sender to state whatever the "from" address is. And, unless things
have changed drastically, mailman.qth.net, which runs this reflector has
never "bounced" a message when I said it was from n8xx at arrl.net or
n8xx at arrl.org, even when I was at my daughter's place or my son's place
and was using their smtp outbound server.

IF I use my web based client at webmail.nuvox.net the "from" address is
automatically assigned as my name at one.net, so this is the only time
it's impossible for me to send a message to ILQSO at mailman.qth.net.

If all this is clear as mud, I apologize.

But, in a nutshell, it's NOT the use of your arrl.net alias, it your
misuse of whatever mail client server you're using. IF you use the
webbased client of hotmail to send messages, then what Mr. Pease says is
correct. But, if you use netscape mail or outlook express on your own
computer, you may change the "from" address to yourcall at arrl.net
computer and it will work.

Unfortunately, this is a forwarding alias only and since your ISP provided email account is something different than what you provided when you signed up, Mailman does not recognize you as a list member. You will receive all emails sent to the ARRL.net address though.
