Hank, the one thing I can *almost* guarantee is that the next ILQP won't have worse weather than this one (note I said "almost"....). My one foray into Indiana for their QP as a portable (I did mobile once, too), it was pouring rain when I set up and when I tore down and every minute in between. I was really fortunate not to get stuck. Talk about a miserable day! I did operate inside a pickup cab once for ILQP as a portable because the forecast was for a high of 45 degrees. It actually turned out to be a nice day.
We'll order "sunny and 70" for next year and see what happens. RAMS had more experience at fixing the wx than we have so far ;)

My pappy, who was a ham (W5ETK, W9HZP, WØHZP) used to say: "You don't
have to be nuts to be a Ham Radio Operator, but it sure helps." :)
I think I'll study the operating characteristics of fellows like WN9O,
who must have brought in a bundle of contacts, and whose rate must have
been considerably higher than mine. It took me several tries to break
through the QRM from all the folks trying to contact him when he got to
Vermilion County late in the contest. (Wish someone would have driven
down Illinois SR-49 and given me Edgar county.)
I figure I'm "too much of a rag chewer" and too polite when signing off
with a contact when it comes to real contesting.
