To all interested:

The reason for moving this year to the “fourth Sunday” (which is still
the “third full weekend in October”) was to avoid butting heads with the
PA party. I think we may also avoid JOTA, but that’s not the real issue.

You will note from the 2006 rules section that the WIARC committee elected
not to make any major changes this year. RAMS has done a terrific job of
administering the contest over the past many years, and we didn’t want to
“tinker” with it at this point.

The “Illinois Edible Awards” for at least 200 QSOs or 75 counties (from
out of state) have been mailed.

The contest announcement will be sent soon to various Internet sites that
list “contest calendars”. If you find one that doesn’t have it, let
me know at n9jf at arrl.net.

The historical records (by category and county) and the other ILQP resources
now found on the RAMS page will eventually all be available on the WIARC
page. The category and county records have been updated with 2005 data.
There is not yet a detailed analysis of the 2005 contest, as I have not
perused the paper logs. Whether I get this accomplished depends upon
several things, but it’s part of the plan….

It’s not to early to start checking out possible county line/corner
operating positions as you drive around the state this summer. Post your
plans to the reflector ASAP to “reserve your corner”.

73, Jim N9JF
