A good suggestion from KJ9C
(via N9JF)
This was posted on the INQP reflector, but it applies in Ohio
???????????????????
This is for stations who call CQ, fixed and mobile alike, in the
(Ohio) QSO Party (especially on SSB)
A lot of mobiles can't be easily heard on phone..... antennas are
short and power is maybe 100 watts... so many do not try to "run"
stations *caa CQ) on phone. They search and pounce.
When you call CQ, occasionally ask for "Mobiles only".... many times I
have called a powerhouse station who is working one Out of state station
after another, and I can't break through to provide his only chance at
WARR
County (a guaranteed new multplier)
Being in a rare county for only a few minutes, I won't waste much time
on the powerhouse and will instead try to find another station calling
CQ, or if I am really crazy, I will try to find a frequency to call CQ
myself (not as easy to do as on CW)
So, once in a while when you have a really great run going, say "who
was the mobile?", even if you didn't hear one
There may have been one in there all along
