[ILQSO] ILQP surprises from a CW mobile's perspective

To all,

First and this is no surprise, there are a lot of excellent operators,
both inside and outside of Illinois, that participate in the ILQP. Makes
me cringe when I miscue keying a call on Illinois's smooth roads. IDOT,
take note, you've got a lot of work to do!!

Surprises - 40-meters was incredible, worked a UT and a CU while still
hearing and working stateside and Illinois stations. And not once, but
twice.

Also the level of activity on 80-meters was unreal. Most activity I can
remember in a State QSO Party. I can't wait to really look at the logs
and do a band activity count.

Big surprise! There were two bridges on our route that were lower than
my antenna height but thanks to some preplanning (dumb luck!) when I set
up the antenna system we were able to place the antennas in a horizontal
position and drive through without hurting anything. Electric tail gates
are great. And the bonus was that I could still operate while my driver
was negotiating the hazard.

Hope everyone had as much fun as we did.

Dit-dit
