[ILQSO] logs and rules

When I read N0AX's column in the ARRL Rate Sheet, I thought, "Wow, did HE
ever read my mind!!!"

As of last night, 118 electronic logs and summary sheets have been passed to
the next stage of preparation. I anticipate a few more, but my job is
nearly finished. It was a learning experience and one so far that I'm glad
I had, though I'll admit I'm tired of looking at logs!! Some may be
surprised at the difference between claimed and final scores, as it was
easier this year to verify logging accuracy (or lack of it). For the most
part, logging was very good. A variety of log formats was received, but
most could be handled. In the "other" cases, participants were good about
resubmitting logs in a different format.

Considerable thought will be given before the 2005 contest to further
clarification of log submission guidelines, as this IS a two-way street.
Entrants can't give us what we need if we don't tell them what we need.

It appears that around 160 total logs have been received so far, easily
out-doing last year's (record?) total of 139.

Thanks for all the cooperation!
73, Jim N9JF
