Good to hear you're talking up the party up north!
A multi-op is a great way to have fun, put the county on the air, and
introduce some new people to somewhat laid-back contesting.
As for Boone County activity, KN9T and N9GZ are planning a
Boone/DeKalb/Ogle/Winnebago operation this year. That, however, does not
mean you should change your plans. I don't think anybody is going to pass
you up just because they've already worked the county. In fact, with the
8-QSO multiplier thingie, the incentive to move you to other bands and the
other mode is immense.
In addition to the frequencies Joe mentioned, I think activity has
congregated around 21.050, 21.390, 28.050 and 146.490 FM simplex. I don't
know about six meters, but I'd try just up from 50.125 on SSB unless the
band is crowded.
