Hi Everyone,

It's nice to see that people are already thinking about the ILQP still over
two months away. I too have the dates circled on my calendar and am trying
to arrange my schedule so that I can come in again from PA to operate. It's
a long drive but well worth it to me.

Right now I'm acting as ambassador for the Ohio QSO Party coming up on
Saturday August 23 and want to issue two invitations:

* For IL mobiles to drive to Ohio to operate the contest
* For all other IL stations to get on and pass out some contacts to the
guys in Ohio

I know that I always work a lot of OH stations from IL and I know that the
sponsors of the OQP always put the word out to their members to get on for
the ILQP, so by getting on for the OQP, you help build out-of-state activity
for the ILQP. And of course you'll have a lot of fun too.

The Ohio border is less than 150 miles from IL's eastern border, so it's not
far to drive if you're into mobiling. Jim K8MR, the manager of the OQP,
says that they could really use a couple more mobiles to activate some of
the western counties of Ohio, and he would really be pleased if some of you
IL mobiles would consider making the trip. If you don't want to abandon the
family, make it a vacation by dropping the kids off at Cedar Point amusement
park in Sandusky while you go hamming.

I'm sure that if a couple of IL mobiles would make the trip to Ohio, the OH
mobiles would feel the pressure to reciprocate in October!

The OQP runs from noon to midnight EDST. They have a really good turnout
and it's a real fun event. I know, 'cause I've done the contest mobile for
the last three years and I plan to be out there again this year.

I hope to work a bunch of you IL folks next weekend from Ohio.

73,

Hal W1NN
