Contemplating doing a mobile op through various counties back to the home
QTH in McHenry county, 

Any recommendations for DC to AC power inverters to run my laptop? Went
mobile last year for WIQP and laptop batteries died much too quickly.

How do you serious guys map out your route? Is a GPS a necessity? 

I would be doing a SO probably all SSB (maybe a bit of CW to practice for
SS) at least 10 & 20, maybe 10-40. 

Want to stay in the northern half of the state, any recommendations to a
route that would end up back in McHenry County?

No expectations to win anything just a way to kill a day and maybe put a few
counties out there.
