There are over 36,000 novice licensees. However, there are many more
"novice" CW ops -- some have Novice tickets, others have Extras or something
in between. I was CQing at 25 to 30-wpm, however I always slowed way down if
called at slower speed.

I think novice CW ops should listen to stations calling CQ several times
before they send their call. It's a good way to build your code copying
ability.
