[ILHam] Western Illinois ARC Swapfest Tomorrow

All,

 

The Annual Western Illinois ARC Swapfest will be held tomorrow August 12 in
Paloma, IL.  Our new venue is just a few miles from Quincy and offers a much


Improved facility from past years.  The Community Building in Paloma is well
lighted, air conditioned, includes modern rest rooms and provides an on site

Location for the VE session.  

 

Follow I-172 North from Quincy to US 24 East.  Follow US 24 about 7 miles
East to Paloma and watch for the Hamfest sign on the South side of the
highway.

Turn North and follow the street about 2 blocks and you will see the
building in front of you.  There is plenty of parking and a separate area
set aside for 

for trunk sales.  And don't forget , trunk sales are free with a paid
admission.  Inside tables are still available as well.  Breakfast, lunch and
drinks will be 

available for purchase on site.

 

Our Illinois Section Manager Ron Morgan AD9I and Illinois Section Emergency
Coordinator Fitz Bock WD9FMB will be there and will speak to the group at
about 

10 AM following the conclusion of the VE Test Session.

 

Vendors who plan to be the are Amateur Accessories (Steve KR4S), Dot and
Dash (Joe), as well as D&L Antennas (Les).  So if you have items on your
to-buy list,

These vendors should have most everything to fit your needs. With fall fast
approaching and time to review your antenna installations, it would be a
good time

To stock up on antenna related items.  They carry cord, wire as well as
complete antennas, connectors, coaxial cable, etc.

 

A VE Test Session will start at 9 AM with all levels of examination
available.  Walk-ins will be accepted.  Bring two forms of ID, one of which
must be a government

Issued photo ID (state drivers' license), a ball point pen, two soft lead
pencils, the original and a photo copy of any current FCC Amateur License or
applicable CSCE.

The 2017 test session fee is $15 and may be cash or check.  (An admission
ticket to the Swapfest is NOT required to attend the test session.)
