The DeKalb, IL (W5YI-VEC) VE (Volunteer Examiner) Team is pleased to
announce its 2015 VE Testing schedule.
In addition, we are administering tests now on Saturday mornings, rather
than the Tuesday or Wednesday evenings held previously.
So, please note the new days - the third Saturday of every odd-numbered
month, from 9:00 AM to 12 Noon.
Future dates in 2015 (all times from 9AM to Noon. Be there early, as we
have to finish up no later than noon):
* March 21
* May 16
* July 18
* Sept 19
* Nov 21
The testing site remains the same, Community of Christ Church, 1200
South Malta Road, DeKalb, IL 60115 (see Google Maps for directions).
Appointments should be made 5 days prior to the test date, via either
email or phone (see below).
Sorry, no walk-ins.

at w9jbl at comcast.net or by phone at 815-756-5159. If no contact is made
for some reason, feel free to notify one of the other alternate contacts
at "Contacts" on our VE page.

The Valley Amateur Repeater Association, VARA, is pleased to announce
the installation of a Motorola TRBO repeater on 444.975 MHz, Color
Code-1. The repeater runs in DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) mode, and is
internet linked. The club invites you to check out the repeater, and
our other resources. For club and repeater details:

For hams with prior DMR knowledge, the WR9ABQ/R repeater is linked into

Every Friday at 8:30 AM Rockford area hams and those with an interest in
ham radio gather for breakfast at Morning Glory, 408 7th St in Rockford,
IL The event lasts until we run out of things to talk about (doesn't
happen...) or 11:30 arrives (all to quickly most Fridays...) Informal
and friendly. Spouses welcome!
**** We are now**meeting for breakfast at the Morning Glory Restaurant's
only location, 408 7th St. (east side of the street, next to the alley
mid way between 3rd and 4th Avenues*)*There are about 12 parking spots,
6 on each side of the alley, that are marked for the restaurant*.
*Additional parking is on the street, _watch signage_! All other nearby
lots are marked as "tow away".****
No club affiliation, no organized programs, just like minded folks
getting together
for a good time.
