Hi Rich,
I also have been wanting to give this a try. I fly a Piper Lance out of DKB (DeKalb, IL).
I think that there would probably be an impedance matching problem to solve plus I don't know if the microphone output would be at the right level. I see that you live in Wheaton, I'm in St. Charles but work in Wheaton (I'm currently on the mend from a slight accident on my motorcycle that resulted in a fractured fibula). However once I'm over that let's get together and hash it out.

Here's what I see for a set of David "Clamps" headsets. If you've ever flown with a set of David Clark's for any length of time you'll get the "Clamps" reference.

Earphone Type:	Dynamic	Noise-Canceling Mic:	M-7A Amplified Electret
Earphone Impedance:	150 ohms(300 each; wired in parallel)	Mic Impedance:	50 ohms +/- 20%
Earphone Sensitivity:	90 dB SPL on flat plate coupler, re 1mW input @ 1KHz	Mic Sensitivity:	400mV RMS ±6dB into 150 ohm load
@ 1kHz for 114dB SPL input
Earphone Frequency Response:	200-5,500 Hz	Mic Freq Response:	300Hz--3.5KHz per RTCA DO 214
Earphone Plug:	PJ-055 (.25" phone plug)	Mic Plug:	PJ-068 (.206" phone plug)
Boom Type:	Universal Flex	Cord:	5 ft.Straight
Headpad/Hardware:	Super-Soft, Double-Foam Headpad,Lightweight Hardware	Weight/Headset Only:	16.5 oz.

I have a spare set that we can experiment with. The mc accident is keeping me out of the plane as well and I don't know how long it takes to get over a broken bone ... This is my first fracture !

Anyway, keep in touch. My email is klea56 at yahoo.com or ken.lea at gmail.com
Also, congratulations on getting your ticket.

73,
Ken K9LEA
N442TM - Piper Lance II
