Dear Illinois Hams:

Beginning in 1943 and every year thereafter, the
month of March has been declared "Red Cross Month"
by the President of the United States, in order to
highlight the vital work of the American Red Cross
in communities across the country and around the
globe.

This Friday and Saturday, several Red Cross
chapters throughout the U.S. will be operating
special event stations celebrating Red Cross
Month.

The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago will be
operating on Friday only, from around 0900--1700
local time. On HF, we plan to be close to 7.245
MHz and 14.260 MHz. We also plan to be on 147.420
MHz (simplex) for folks in the Chicago area.

We will be using this event to test our HF
capabilities and identify problems that we may
need to fix so we can have reliable HF
communications. We hope to guage the coverage of
our simple wire antenna, and in particular, learn
how well it covers the State of Illinois.

If you have a few minutes on Friday, please help
us with our test by working our special event
station.

Thanks and 73,

--Neil Ormos N9NL
