Dear Cook County ARESA Members and Friends:
The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago is
looking for some hams to help provide
communications support for sheltering operations
(and possibly other Red Cross services) during the
NATO Summit which will be held May 18-22.
Please see the request from Rob Orr K9RST attached
below. If you are available willing to help,
please respond directly to Rob with the
information he has requested.
This is a great opportunity to help the Red Cross
and show them how the ham radio community can be a
reliable and trusted partner.
Please help if you can.

Subject: Red Cross seeks hams
I have been asked to help coordinate finding a few
licensed ham radio operators who might be willing
to help provide some radio support for a local
deployment. We know the potential
dates...centered around May 20th We are seeking
amateurs who can work at Red Cross shelters or
other related sites for 10 hour shifts. You will
need your own equipment (preferably mobile radios)
and some of the assignments might involve some
transportation challenges. Yes, this date
coincides with Dayton and is in anticipation of
activities surrounding the upcoming NATO
conference to be held in Chicago. There are not
many details, but if you might be available from
the dates of May 18 - 22...any of those dates, if
you have radio and are capable of providing your
own transportation and resources, we would like to
hear from you.
Please send me your name, call, email and phone
contact information. Let me know what dates you
might be willing to work and if you can work AM or
PM shifts.
I will be at Dayton during this period, but I will
be sending your names on to the organizers to help
structure the response.
