SPACE JAMBOREE Saturday Aug. 7th 2010 is the big day!!!
www.spacejamboree.com WB9SA Event... Rantoul IL Hope to have a ton of
traffic at the Scout event.

Work the balloons, Cross Band repeater, ATV, 20 Meters, ISS contact (we hope
to put it up on the balloon if it happens.)

Balloon BASE 48 will launch at flags (7:30ish am local CST (-5UTC): It will
APRS on 144.39 MHz with the call sign- N9QGS-11. The ATV will be on this
balloon on 434 MHz NTSC format. Additionally, there will be Domino -22 RTTY
300 baud on 146.565 MHz. The balloon will climb at about 1000 ft/min till
burst. I hope to reach 95,000 feet with this balloon.

BASE 49 will launch about 8:30 am local (1330 UTC). It will have APRS on
144.39 MHz with the call sign - W9YJ-11. The cross band repeater will use
144.360 MHz up and 446.025 MHz down. The balloon will also carry DominoEx
but I don't know the frequency (Bill, do you have an idea??). It will climb
a little slower, perhaps 800-900 feet/minute. I also plan to float this
balloon between 70,000 and 80,000 feet for about one hour. This will mean
that the cross band will be above 60,000 feet for at least 90 minutes. The
descent will be on the balloon at a rate of about 500 ft/min. If I made my
best guess. The cross band will be above 60 kft from 1430 UTC till 1600 UTC
and above 45 kft from 1415 UTC till 1630 UTC.

Considering the wind patterns, we may relay the ISS Space Jam contact
through the cross band repeater! WB9SA will run as Net Control…

Scouts will also be on 20 meters (around 14.290 +- 5K). Scouts are planning
a Search and Rescue event with APRS tracking and ATV Helmet Cam. Fox hunting
and more…

Hope you get to work a Scout or some 2m/440 DX!!!

Special Thanks to everyone helping out this year, Howard KC9QBN, DePauw
University and his team; Charlie AJ9N and the ARISS team; Dave KB9ZMF and
the VCARA crew.

73, Brian K9BKW and the BSA Crew 272 WB9SA team! Space UP!!!
