[ILHam] Request for Volunteers August 25th - 2007 Rolling On The River Ride

Fellow Amateurs:

Kendall County ARES has been requested to assist again this year with 
the Rolling on The River Bike, which will be held the weekend before 
Labor Day, August 24 through August 26. The event is really more than 
just a bike ride, with other events throughout the day on Saturday, 
canoe / kayak rides on the Fox River on Sunday, and camping over the 
entire weekend. More about the event can be found here:

This year, in addition to providing communications from the rest stops 
and SAG vehicles back to the campground, we have been asked to take over 
the entire SAG operation. The ride route is primarily in Kendall County, 
but makes brief incursions into LaSalle, DeKalb and Kane Counties. We 
are looking for volunteers to help with this event. Primary need would 
be on Saturday, with some assistance welcomed on Friday evening for 
route verification and Sunday for the canoe trips. We anticipate 
Saturday’s hours of operation from about 6:00AM until 5:00 PM, but we 
can accommodate folks with varying start/end times. We plan on running 
the operation on 2 meters, and using APRS for the SAG vehicles. 
Operators will be needed at Net Control, rest areas, and a couple people 
to shadow the event coordinators. Those of you who helped last year know 
that the event staff took good care of their volunteers with food, a 
goody bag, and t-shirts. And, like last year, they’re offering us free 
camping and participation in the ancillary events, so this would also 
make a good family weekend getaway.
