The North Shore Radio Club will link its repeaters Thursday, May 4, for the
8:00 p.m. CDT net. Check in on the two meter repeater (147.345 MHz, +600 KHz,
PL 107.2 Hz) or the 440 repeater (442.075 +5MHz, PL 100.0 Hz). However, please
check 2-meters if you don't hear us on UHF. It's suggested that the operator
pause for about a second after keying the microphone to allow the linkage to
pick up the request to transmit, especially on the 440 band.

In addition to local traffic, and John Wass with the local hamfest and
American Radio Relay League (ARRL) news, this week's net will include the RAIN
Report and Amateur Radio Newsline. This week's RAIN Report is "Politics Outside Ham
Radio."  Just as in real life when you put a handful of folks in the same
room--or on the same frequency--there are bound to be disagreements, especially
when it comes to politics. On the other hand, place a ham in that same
scenario  with a mission and political maxi to match, and you get positive political
change. One such ham is Bill Hudzik, W2UDT, Northern New Jersey Section Manager
for the ARRL, American Radio Relay League.

Amateur Radio Newsline reports the B-P-L fight continues in Virginia, the FCC
looks at several more repeater problems and the Morse code can be fun.

All licensed amateurs are welcome to check in. Check-ins are taken by net
control Dave, N3BXY, at the beginning of the net, between RAIN and Newsline, and
after Newsline.

73,
Marilyn Tschannen Gardner, W9LUO
North Shore Radio Club
