The North Shore Radio Club will link its repeaters January 5 for the 8:00
p.m. CST net. Check in on the two meter repeater (147.345 MHz, +600 Hz, PL 107.2
Hz) or the 440 repeater (442.075 +5MHz, PL 100.0 Hz). However, please check
2-meters if you don't hear us on UHF. It's suggested that the operator pause for
about a second after keying the microphone to allow the linkage to pick up
the request to transmit, especially on the 440 band.

In addition to local traffic, and John Wass with the local hamfest and
American Radio Relay League (ARRL) news, this week's net will include the
RAIN Report and Amateur Radio Newsline. The RAIN Report is "Collins
Collectibles," part 2. Those new to Amateur Radio may not realize that For almost half a
century Collins radios were the cream of the crop in ham radio circles. Collins
transmitters, receivers and transceivers have become pricy collectibles. While
Collins rigs were considered the Cadillac of the ham shack for decades,
restoration of these radios has its challenges. Just ask Bill Carns, N7OTQ, a
former board member of the Collins Collectors Association and long-time Collins
collector and restorer in Chandler, Arizona. This week we conclude Hap Holly,
KC9RP's interview with Bill.

Amateur Radio Newsline reports that the FCC says vanity call processing
resumes
January 4th, AMSAT says that S-D-X will fly on Phase 3 E and the B-P-L war
continues on both sides of the Pacific.

All licensed amateurs are welcome to check in. Check-ins are taken by net
control Hap, KC9RP, at the beginning of the net, between RAIN and Newsline,
and after Newsline.

73,
Marilyn Tschannen Gardner, W9LUO
