The North Shore Radio Club will link its repeaters September 8 for the 8:00
p.m. CDT net. Check in on the two meter repeater (147.345 MHz, +600 Hz., PL
107.2 Hz.) or the 440 repeater (442.075 +5MHz., PL 100.0 Hz.). However,
please
check 2-meters if you don't hear us on UHF. It's suggested that the operator
pause
for about a second after keying the microphone to allow the linkage to pick
up
the request to transmit, especially on the 440 band.
In addition to local traffic, and John Wass with the local hamfest and
American Radio Relay League (ARRL) news, the NSRC net includes the RAIN
report and AR Newsline. The RAIN report, "Katrina's Aftermath - How to Help"
Hurricane Katrina has created what could be argued the worst natural disaster our
country has faced in modern times. While hundreds of ham operators are involved
in providing logistical support, those with cooler heads are recommending the
rest of us not rush in blindly to help. RAIN's Founder/Producer Hap Holly,
KC9RP, spoke with Alan Pitts, W1AGP, the Media and Public Relations Manager for
the ARRL, the American Radio Relay League.
Amateur Radio Newsline reports Amateur Radio operators in the United States
take on Hurricane Katrina as hams in the Philippines find out that they won't
loose access to the 70 centimeter band after all.
All licensed amateurs are welcome to check in. Check-ins are taken by net
control Mark, WA9IVH, at the beginning of the net, between RAIN and Newsline,
and after Newsline.

Marilyn Tschannen Gardner, W9LUO
