The North Shore Radio Club will link its repeaters October 27 for the 8:00
p.m. CDT net. Check in on the two meter repeater (147.345 MHz, +600 Hz, PL 107.2
Hz.) or the 440 repeater (442.075 +5MHz, PL 100.0 Hz). However, please check
2-meters if you don't hear us on UHF. It's suggested that the operator pause
for about a second after keying the microphone to allow the linkage to pick up
the request to transmit, especially on the 440 band.
In addition to local traffic, and John Wass with the local hamfest and
American Radio Relay League (ARRL) news, the NSRC net includes the RAIN report and
AR Newsline. The RAIN report for this week is "The Danger of RF Safety" Part
2 Do you believe everything you read? You shouldn't when it comes to articles
and press releases published as a result of laboratory studies connected with
RF safety research; so says Dr. Greg Lapin, N9GL, a member of the North Shore
Radio Club. Dr. Lapin is a member of the IEEE Committee on Man and Radiation
as well as Chair of the ARRL's Safety committee. This week we concludes the
excerpt from Dr. Lapin's 2004 Dayton Hamvention presentation on this subject.
Amateur Radio Newsline reports Hurricane Wilma threatens the U-S mainland as
ham radio prepares for its onslaught. Also, radio amateurs are still needed
in Mississippi following hurricane Katrina and Italy's Red Cross inaugurates
its use of ham radio emergency communications
All licensed amateurs are welcome to check in. Check-ins are taken by net
control Mark, WA9IVH, at the beginning of the net, between RAIN and Newsline, and
after Newsline.

Marilyn Tschannen Gardner, W9LUO
