The North Shore Radio Club will link its Winnetka repeaters October 6 for the
8:00 p.m. net. Check in on the two meter repeater (147.345 MHz, +600 Hz., PL
107.2 Hz.) or the 440 repeater (442.075 +5MHz., PL 100.0 Hz.). However, please
check 2-meters if you don't hear us on UHF. It's suggested that the operator
pause for about a second after keying the microphone to allow the linkage to
pick up the request to transmit, especially on the 440 band.

In addition to local traffic, and John Wass with the local hamfest and
American Radio Relay League (ARRL) news, the NSRC net includes the RAIN report and
AR Newsline. The RAIN report for this week is "Make Your Club Programs
Something Special." If you are looking for ideas on how you can provide quality,
interactive  programs for your repeater or radio club meetings, this week's 2000
RAIN Rerun of an interview with Chicagoan Art Housholder, K9TRG, is a must
listen.

Amateur Radio Newsline reports Hurricane Rita hits Texas and Louisiana and
ham radio is ready. Also, the B-P-L battle heats up down-under and the third ham
head space tourist heads to the I-S-S.

All licensed amateurs are welcome to check in. Check-ins are taken by net
control Mark, WA9IVH, at the beginning of the net, between RAIN and Newsline, and
after Newsline.

Marilyn Tschannen Gardner, W9LUO
