The information and sign-up page for the First Annual "Great Midwest
Relay" is now operational on the Lake County RACES/ARES web site,
at: http://www.races.org/gmrinfo.htm.
This event, scheduled for Friday, June 10th, through Saturday, June
11th, will provide all of us with a "first of its kind"
communication exercise. We will be passing voice and data traffic
between Wisconsin and Illinois, for the entire event (approximately
30 hours). We will need many, many "ham", as well as, several "non- ham"
volunteers for this large scale event.
A training session on "net Control Operation" will be held on
Monday, April 4th, at 7:30 PM, and a system-wide communication test
is scheduled for Saturday, April 30th, starting at 10 AM.
We welcome hams with all skill levels to participate. A few hours of
your time will greatly benefit this fund raising event for the
Special Olympics.
This is a great opportunity to deploy with fellow hams for this
major communication exercise, and quite possibly learn some new
tricks in the process.
Please go to http://www.races.org/gmrinfo.htm web site for
additional information, and to sign up for this "communication event
of the year".
