North Shore Radio Club's regular Thursday evening net at 8:00 p.m. CDT June
30 will only be on the Winnetka two meter repeater (147.345 MHz, +600 Hz., PL
107.2 Hz.).
In addition to local traffic, and John Wass with the local hamfest and
American Radio Relay League (ARRL) news, the NSRC net includes the RAIN report and
AR Newsline. The RAIN report, "NYC ARES in 911 Aftermath," reports about a June
24 press release stating that, after a prolonged absence, RACES, the Radio
Amateur Civil Emergency Service, has been Reestablished in New York City as a
result of the completion of a Memorandum of Understanding between the New York
City Office of Emergency Management and Mike Lisenco, N2YBB, their appointee
for New York City RACES Radio Officer. On a recent trip to the Big Apple Amateur
Radio Newsline's Bill Pasternak, WA6ITF, interviewed Lisenko in a most
unusual place.
Amateur Radio Newsline reports that a new Over the Horizon radar system in
Australia could cause problem for ham radio, B-P-L tests draw closer in San
Diego, California, and a ham radio operator testifies before Congress from space.
All licensed amateurs are welcome to check in. Check-ins are taken by net
control Mark, WA9IVH, at the beginning of the net, between RAIN and Newsline, and
after Newsline.
