Highland Park's North Shore Radio Club will again link its repeaters on
February 24 for the 8:00 p.m. CST net. Check in on the two meter repeater (147.345
MHz, + 600 Hz., PL 107.2 Hz.) or the 440 repeater (442.075 +5MHz., PL 100.0
Hz.). It's suggested that the operator pause for about a second after keying the
microphone to allow the linkage to pick up the request to transmit,
especially on the 440 band.

In addition to local traffic, and John Wass with the local hamfest and
American Radio Relay League (ARRL) news, the NSRC net includes the RAIN
report and AR Newsline. The RAIN report this week, "VOIP - A Brief History,"
features an excerpt from the 2004 Dayton hamvention presentation by one of its
developers, James Millner, WB2REM.  Next time we'll take a closer look at the
evolution of a very popular VoIP program called EchoLink.

Amateur Radio Newsline tells that BPL may be coming to a major Southern
California city even as it gets knocked by a market analyses firm down under.

All licensed amateurs are welcome to check in. Check-ins are taken by net
control at the beginning of the net, after John Wass' ARRL report and hamfest
calendar, between RAIN and Newsline, and after Newsline.
