Highland Park's North Shore Radio Club will again link its repeaters on
February 10 for the 8:00 p.m. net. Check in on the two meter repeater (147.345 MHz,
+ 600 Hz., PL 107.2 Hz.) or the 440 repeater (442.075 +5MHz., PL 100.0 Hz.).
It's suggested
that the operator pause for about a second after keying the microphone to
allow the linkage to pick up the request to transmit, especially on the 440 band.
In addition to local traffic, and John Wass with the local hamfest and
American Radio Relay League (ARRL) news, the NSRC net includes the RAIN
report and AR Newsline. The RAIN report this week is another RAIN Report about the
sun, "January, 2005 - Solar History," for good reason. An event occurring
between January 14 and 22 left an indelible mark in the annals of solar astronomy.
RAIN Founder/Producer Hap Holly, KC9RP talks with Tomas Hood, NW7US,
propagation columnist for CQ, CQ-VHF and Popular Communications magazines about this.
Amateur Radio Newsline discusses the part Amateur Radio will take in a major
emergency communications conference this spring and an astronaut ham tells
what its like to celebrate new years in space. There's also a look back at ham
radio
on the silver screen.
All licensed amateurs are welcome to check in. Check-ins are taken by net
control Mark, WA9IVH, at the beginning of the net, after John Wass' ARRL
report and hamfest calendar, between RAIN and Newsline, and after Newsline.
