The North Shore Radio Club will again link its repeaters on February 3 for
the 8:00 p.m. net. Check in on the two meter repeater (147.345 MHz, +600 Hz., PL
107.2 Hz.) or the 440 repeater (442.075 +5MHz., PL 100.0 Hz.). It's suggested
that the operator pause for about a second after keying the microphone to
allow the linkage to pick up the request to transmit, especially on the 440 band.

In addition to local traffic, and John Wass with the local hamfest and
American Radio Relay League (ARRL) news, the NSRC net includes the RAIN report and
AR Newsline. The RAIN report this week features "RAIN Goes VoIP," discussing an
alternative to the hard wire telephone, Voice over Internet protocol, a
technology that literally allows one's computer (even a slow one like Hap's) to act
as a conduit for speaking with folks around the world at little or no cost.
Thanks to a free and legal program called Skype, RAIN Founder/Producer Hap
Holly, KC9RP, speaks with Rory Norton, ZS2BL, Chairman of the Port Elizabeth
Amateur Radio society based in Port Elizabeth  on South Africa's southeast coast.

Amateur Radio Newsline discusses a big loss for those pushing B-P-L
down-under, a big win for hams of Southern California in an ongoing interference case
and a big change coming to the FCC. Other topics of interest to hams will also
be covered.

All licensed amateurs are welcome to check in. Check-ins are taken by net
control Marilyn, W9LUO, at the beginning of the net, between RAIN and Newsline,
and after Newsline.

73,
Marilyn Tschannen Gardner, W9LUO
