Mark, WA9IVH, will be net control for the Thursday evening net of the North
Shore Radio Club on linked repeaters. Check in on the two meter repeater
(147.345 MHz, +600 Hz., PL 107.2 Hz.) or the 440 repeater (442.075 +5MHz., PL 100.0
Hz.). It's suggested that the operator pause for about a second after keying
the microphone to allow the linkage to pick up the request to transmit,
especially on the 440 band.

In addition to local traffic, and John Wass' with the local hamfest and ARRL
news, the NSRC net includes the RAIN report and AR Newsline. The RAIN report
this week notes that a Hallicrafter receiver has a cameo in the just-released
"Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow." In honor of Hallicrafter's
appearance a RAIN rerun from 1996 features Hap Holly, KC9RP, interviewing Chuck Dachis,
WD5EOG, a recognized Hallicrafter historian, collector and restorer for well
over 25 years.

Last week Amateur Radio Newsline reported on Hurricane Frances. This week the
report is on Hurricane Ivan. Hear what amateur radio operators are doing in
this communications emergency.

All check-ins are welcome Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. Check-ins are taken by net
control at the beginning of the net, between RAIN and Newsline, and after
Newsline.

73,

Marilyn Tschannen Gardner, W9LUO
North Shore Radio Club
