The Illinois ARES® HF Net will meet on 3.905 MHz this Sunday November 21,
2004 beginning at 1630 local (4:30 PM).

This Illinois Section ARES® HF Net is regularly held on the first and
third Sunday of each month and will meet anytime for the emergency on
3.905 MHz LSB, plus or minus, and occasionally on 7.230 MHz LSB when
summertime propagation requires.

All ARES and EmComm stations from each Illinois county are encouraged to
monitor these regular Illinois ARES HF Net sessions to help develop
effective HF radio coverage throughout the state in this mode. Monitor
for these regular nets and in the emergency. Practiced and capable HF
stations are always needed in each Illinois County for possible relay of
tactical and formal Emergency and Priority message traffic at any time.
Use of emergency power and simple NVIS HF antennas are encouraged for
monitoring and attending this net.

The formal net purpose is to encourage HF reporting activity from each
Illinois county, and to test propagation and equipment used for the
emergency via this twice monthly information and roll call net.

Net format:

A call for Emergency and Priority traffic begins each ARES net.

A formal roll call of District and local ARRL Emergency Coordinators
(EC) then follows in the closed portion of the net. Following this EC
roll, reports on local EmComm activities are made by these EC checked in.
Designated ARES® representatives may also check in for the local EC and
deliver any EC local report on ARES activities.

In the latter open portion of the net, Assistant EC, ARRL Official
Emergency Stations (OES) and ARES registered member are encouraged to
check in to test their HF station and HF propagation within Illinois.
Help ensure each Illinois county is represented on this and every
Illinois ARES HF net. Adjacent states and other section liaison may also
check in after the state county roll.

Make sure you attend the Illinois Sideband Net following this net at
1800 local (6:00 PM) to aid in routine traffic handling in your area.
