Come to the NSRC Meeting Tonight to hear N9GL speak about the ARRL ARIA
Project.  Learn how you can participate in a new program that will help
preserve Amateur Radio frequencies and protect them from the creeping
interference from Part 15 devices that slowly increasing to intolerable
levels.  Those present will have a chance to win one of the door prizes that
include copies of the ARRL Spread Spectrum Sourcebook, the ARRL
UHF/Microwave Experimenters Manual, and the Radio Amateur's Satellite
Handbook.

The FCC set up the Part 15 rules to allow unlicensed devices to share ham
frequencies in the UHF and SHF regions.  They are convinced that the power
limits and the characteristics of Spread Spectrum modulation techniques will
prevent these devices from interfering with licensed services such as
Amateur Radio.

The Amateur Radio Interference Assessment, or ARIA, is a data gathering
project that will present results to the FCC to show them whether o! r not
this is true.  For this to work we need help from hams across the country to
periodically listen to the shared frequencies and present noise level
measurements for inclusion in a master data base.

Tonight at the North Shore Radio Club Meeting, N9GL will speak about this
program and show some preliminary results.  He will show you how you can
participate in this important program.

NSRC meets at 7:30 pm on the second Tuesday of each month at the Karger
Center in Highland Park, on Green Bay Rd immediately north of Central Ave.
Take the Eden's Expressway to the Central Ave exit, drive east to Green Bay,
turn left and then turn left again into the Karger Center parking lot.
