On October 12th the USS Cassin Young, the museum ship destroyer in
Boston Harbor, will get underway to turn around.
Her radio group will be aboard and operating. Not only will they be
handling regular HAM contacts but also the USS Salem and USS Cassin
Young will pass Navy military style communications traffic back and
forth using both CW and SSB. After initiating the contact with our HAM
calls we will then send the messages using the ships original callsigns
and tactical calls.
Any station, HAM or SWL, that copies this message correctly and submits
their correct copy of the message and a SASE to W1QWT will receive a
handsome certificate.
If you want to see and hear what a Navy message was like in the fifties
and sixties then tune in.
Below is the schedule.
1300Z 7040 KHz CW
1310Z 14040 KHz CW
1330Z 7260 KHz SSB Phone
