Thanks to all that sent me information   Well it may be 27 years old, but comparing to my age of 87 it's young. Only problem about trying to repair these solid state units is that the parts become unavailable in a short time frame. I just completely rewired my BC 348 WWII aircraft radio, New caps and resistors. It's like a new radio today and I'm sure it meets the standards the radio had to meet back in the early 1940's.  I purchased the BC 348 back in 1955 when Radio Row surplus stores were big in the cities.
 
Anyway technology is great today, but sometimes puts a wall up and stops the good old fun of smoke testing one's old basement work, projects  and building.
