"In my case, this is for an IC-751A that I pulled out of storage and
dusted off. With the low end value for a working IC-751A around $325, I
am not inclined to pay more than $100 for both including shipping. The
radio works very well and the filters would be a “nice to have” item but
not necessary."
Myself, I wouldn't look at the comparative value of the radio, which on
ebay can be from 99 cents to a bajillion dollars, but the ability to get
the parts for my radio, on my desk, at a price I'd pay, whether spending
$100 now, and running within a week, or waiting for $75, and maybe
running never. Regardless of how much, or little, the filters cost
years ago new, the prices you see are used, and now.
How much do you want to pay for a nice-to-have to use your radio as you
like, at the flip of a switch?
I don't like paying nearly a kiloBuck for sedan tires that cost me $100
mounted and balanced in 1992 (and they were making a profit then!), but
they are nice to have! Alternately, I could have walked for 31 years,
just to make a point. To who, I can't imagine, certainly not all those
people with tires...
That aside, I've spend up to decades looking for a nice deal on some
parts, never bought because I thought there were too much, especially
when compared to the original item price, only to have sources dry up
entirely, when I could have spent 20-30 years just using the equipment.
